Titel: Still blue eyes... indicates a sub adult bird.

Beskrivelse: Little Raven is very common here - like also the Little Penguin ( > 2000 seen alive). Phillip Island is really worth a visit if birding is on the agenda.

Beskrivelse: ...looking for food (ours!) in the tree's outside our accomodation. The white spot at the base of the bill is the discriminating ID for Grey Butcherbird among Butcherbirds. Bold and 'friendly' bird... some might land on your shoulder or hand to get a snack.

Titel: A salty, costal goose. Islands and costal mainland of south-eastern Australia

Beskrivelse: adult : grey with brownish tint and yellow part of the bill

Titel: Two adults with 5 juveniles.

Beskrivelse: The adults are in the middle and right - with yellow on the bill and some brownish tinting in the plummage. These geese prefer walking or flying instead of swimming... note the solid black of the distal part of the legs - not soil or mud - it is the natural colour.

Titel: Sleeping my day away....

Beskrivelse: The juvenile Frogmouth is able to leave the nest and fly around already when ½ size of a grown bird. Here the birds are roosting close to a public path - in the open and 2 m above the ground. Most birds have a colour more grey than tawny. Nice meeting !

Titel: Dad and todler in a garden next to the lowland rainforest

Beskrivelse: The male takes care of eggs and chicks for almost a year. The female can reach 65 kg almost 20 kg more than the taller Emu. In 5 days in the Mission Beach area we met 5 to 6 different individuals - 3 to 4 at this location. The two other birds were one in the forest and one crossing the highway just in front of our car.

Beskrivelse: Mission Beach is a relatively quiet holiday area, but north of it is Garners Beach - no body there (at least not this day). Very good conditions for this bird.

Beskrivelse: Eucalyptus with flowers attracts birds. Here the Scaly-breasted Lorikeet's were clearly dominated by the Rainbow Lorikeets forcing the Scaly-breasted to leave

Titel: Smallest Cuckoo in the world (size of a House Sparrow)

Beskrivelse: Lakeside tree; male ID'ed by red eyering. Could be an interbreed between the two ssp russatus and barnardi (under-tail coloring seems a mix). Some books claims the ssp russatus to be a full species: Gould's Bronze-cuckoo.

Beskrivelse: Overgrown garden in the outskirts of the small holiday village. Tawny morph. Brown morph birds are always females.
