Cool! Can you please write some information, in which habitat you found the bird? Was ist alone or with other birds? If so, which species? Maybe it's possible to tranfer your finding circumstances to Germany ... ;-) Thanks a lot for any information!
Good birding, Martin

Hi Martin

The ringer of the bird Rolf Christensen describes om www.dofbasen.dk that the bird quite surprisingly was caught in a mistnet in a willow schrub far from any patch of forest like area. It also had very low fat reserves.

good birding, Lars Michael

Knud Pedersen skriver onsdag 7. november 2012 kl. 20.54
Hi Martin
This Pine Grosbeak was caught in a mist net by ringer Rolf Christensen early in the morning at Grenen, Skagen – the northernmost point of Jutland.
The bird was ringed and released at the same spot and it stayed for at least two hours in the area.
Grenen is a costal location with dunes and reedbeds and shattered stands of bushes and trees. Grenen is a hotspot for migrating birds and around 360 bird species have been recorded in the area.
For the last two weeks thousands of Pine Grosbeaks have been on the move in Finland and for the last days hundreds have been seen in Sweden and Norway. So far four birds have been recorded in Denmark – all of them at Skagen.
The last invasion of Pine Grosbeaks in Denmark took place in November-December 2004 and most of them were seen in Northern Jutland.
Pine Grosbeaks are notoriously attracted to rowan berries at this time of the year, so it is a good idea to look for them in gardens and town parks with plenty of Rowans.
I wish you good luck finding one or more of these beautiful, confidential and extremely tame birds in Germany.

Knud

Knud Pedersen skriver onsdag 7. november 2012 kl. 21.10
Hej Henrik,

Bedste hilsner
Knud

Martin,

Easiest way to find Grosbeaks at southern Finland is to search birds feeding on rowan berries or even on tamaracks. Then listen for calls specially from spruce forests.
