Beskrivelse: It has been a quite good spring for Lesser Crested Tern at the Spanish south coast this year. The days around the 7th of May several birding teams saw extremely large groups at Tarifa beach. A Swedish team saw seven on the 7th and a single Danish birder saw at least TEN!!! but probably two or three more at the same place. This constitutes perhaps one (if not the largest) of the largest groups ever recorded in Spain and Europe.
At least three but probably five Lesser Crested Terns was resting at Tarifa beach together with Sandwich Terns in the late afternoon on the 16th of May 2002. One or two individuals were also seen at Cape Trafalgar earlier that same day.
